A brilliant app for capturing whatever you want on your desktop.

Capture a Window, Fullscreen, Widget, Timed full screen or use it like the built in grab in Mac OS and capture whatever you want using cross hairs.

Once captured you can examine your snap with the magnifier simply by moving your mouse over the image, then save it to tour desktop.

The Big word project.

The Big word project.

The Big Word Project has been set up by Paddy Donnelly and Lee Munroe, two Masters students from Northern Ireland, who are exploring what different words mean to different people.

You buy a word, they have all the words from the English Dictionary, it's $1 a letter.

They link the word to your site so when it's clicked, people are taken to your site.

The project is aimed at changing definitions and creating a new tapestry of words, meaning altogether different things.

It's a laugh just clicking on some of the words and seeing some of the sites their linked too.

It's a brilliant idea,

I bought Priestly, not quite the right spelling but it will do.
Also Mad, dont know why, and BUMP which I gifted to

Macbook Pro Trackpad

Cali Lewis from Geekbrief.TV mentioned on her show that Macbook Pro users can use the Trackpad to zoom in and out on Google Earth.

I tried it and it's true, it works just like the new multi-touch Trackpad on the Macbook Air and new Macbook Pro's.
You can pinch and expand your fingers to zoom in and out.

Frenzic

Frenzic_120_clear

Frenzic from Iconfactory ........ Well it's addictive I can tell you.

I can only describe it as a incredibly addictive and well made puzzle game.

Frenzic is a fast paced puzzle-based game for Mac OS X that will sharpen your reflexes and get your neurons firing. It takes only minutes to learn and months to master, but beware, once you start playing you may never want to stop!

Window
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!

A fast-paced, addictive game that makes Tetris look like child's play
Compete against your personal best or other players via the Internet
Complete power-ups for increased abilities
Climb through seven levels of Devotion from Newbie all the way to Frenzic Grandmaster!

OK, so here's how you play

In the middle of the puzzle is a circle surrounded by 6 other circles.
As colored pie pieces appear in the centre, place them in the outer circles to earn points. Pieces can only be placed into circles that have a corresponding open slot.
Once all six slots of a circle are filled, the completed pie is cleared from the board. If a piece is not placed before the timer expires, a life is lost.
Use the fewest colour's possible when forming pies for maximum points as each piece of the same colour is worth more than the one before it.
Pies completed with a single colour also earn an extra life. The speed of the timer gradually accelerates, increasing difficulty.
Play ends when all of your lives are lost.

Apple Universe Podcast

Apple Universe Podcast is a podcast produced by Daneil Brusilovsky, he's a 15 year old at the time of this post from the USA.

Daniel started the Apple Universe podcast on April 5th, 2007 with the first episode covering the 8-Core Mac Pro. Now, Apple Universe is a podcast known for covering Apple news, rumors, keynotes, reviews and having really cool interviews.

Daniel originally started Apple Universe using a service called MyPodCast and recorded and released 100 successful episodes. Now, Apple Universe has moved to its own web site, while keeping the RSS Feed the same, so all the subscribers can enjoy Apple Universe on the same feed!

Daniel's Blog can be found at
www.danielbru.com . He shortened the name because a few people including his editors were misspelling his surname.

The main reason for this post is to thank him for my copy of
Frenzic which I received from Iconfactory as part of a give away he was doing during the upgrading of his Podcast Appleuniversepodcast.com on uStream.tv .

If what daniel has achieved already is anything to go by, I'm sure in the future we'll be seeing a lot more of him.

It's been a while

Hi all,

Well It's been a little while since my last post. Had a couple of bout's of MAN FLU and there's been a few things going on at work but I think that's all sorted now.

So we've had Macworld, an update to the iPhone and iPod Touch, the 10.5.2 update, the SDK should be coming soon............
Lots of stuff been going on.

Macworld

I love the look of the Macbook Air, I think Apple have achieved exactly what they set out to do here:
A beautiful laptop.
The worlds thinnest laptop.
Lightest Laptop.
They have also introduced us to solid state memory, I'm sure in the near future this will be the standard in all our portable machines and Apple once again have led the way.

It's a gorgeous machine that I'd love to own, but I have absolutely no need for it what so ever, I have my 17in Macbook Pro as my only machine, I use it for Aperture, Final Cut Express, basically it's my desktop replacement so the Macbook Air would be way under powered for me.

Some people have said negative things about it like:
Non replaceable battery , from what I've seen on the blog's it's pretty easy to do actually and if you don't fancy the DIY option it's quick and cheap to get it done at an Apple store.
Not much power under the hood, I dont think Apple had a workhorse in mind when they launched it. It's for the person that need's mobility and uses it for a second machine, not for someone like me who wants a portable desktop replacement.
Lack of port's, Again if you but this because of the weight saving I dont think your gonna want to carry a load of external drives etc about with you.
Anyway everyone has there opinion on it and I'm sure we could debate this all day long.

Apple TV take 2

Very nice, I may just be tempted to buy one when we eventually get Movie rentals here in the UK. Maybe I will wait for Macworld 2009 and Apple TV with a Blu-Ray player so I can get rid of my DVD player from under the TV.............

Time Capsule

An excellent idea, I'll be buying the 500 GB just as soon as I get the money together later this year.

The iPhone and iPod Touch upgrade is fantastic news, with upgrades coming this soon I reckon I'll be able to get my 32 GB 3G iPhone this summer Happy

10.5.2

Some nice changes here, I'm a fan of the translucent menu bar so I wasn't waiting for this fix.
The changes to the Stacks was appreciated, I like the menu bar icon for Time Machine.

SDK

This will be worth waiting for I think, I'm sure with the rumored Apple event at the end of February we will see a few app's launched.
MMS and Video are a few of the things I'm hoping for in the next few months, I wouldnt even like to guess at some of the app's that were going to see released this year for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

So, that's it for now will be back soon.
