Microsoft Spyware Patent !!!!!
17/07/07 20:43
A recent
patent application from Microsoft points to a
possible future of Windows-based adware on your
desktop computer.
If U.S. patent application 0070157227 is any indication, the software giant is developing a product or products that look at what's on your hard drive and serve you targeted advertisements based on that data.
The patent application notes that the software in question could be a part of Windows or a stand-alone app:
An advertising framework may reside on a user computer, whether it's a part of the OS, an application or integrated within applications. Applications, tools, or utilities may use an application program interface to report context data tags such as key words or other information that may be used to target advertisements.
An Information Week article about this and other Microsoft patents speculates that such an application could scan your hard drive for music files, documents, e-mails and status messages to collect the targeting data.
This isn't good if it's a sign of things to come from Microsoft......

Skitch Invites

Hi all,
I've got 3 invites to Skitch left if anyone would like one.
Skitch is a really nice app for capturing images, you can then edit them and upload to your My Skitch page.
From there you can copy links created for you by skitch and paste them directly in your forum post or whatever, and your image will appear.
Just send me your e-mail and i'll pass one on to you.....
