Flight Gear
Flight Gear
Flight Gear
is a FREE
flight simulator compatible with virtually any
operating system including Windows, Mac and
Linux - with several unique features and
options that may be quite different than
you're used to in a simulation application.
You'll fine a wide variety of aircraft from the
Wright Brothers' first airplane to modern
military jets and navigate using any major brand
joystick or your mouse as a yoke. In addition,
you can download the whole planet or squares off
the website.
You can program your own graphics, create
airports, new aircraft and reprogram flight
controls and response to suit your preferences.
The graphics limited only by your imagination.
The FlightGear website
abounds with
links and tutorials. Easy to use interface
provides your options onscreen so you don't
have to search through menus. As the pilot,
you can control the weather and integrate real
world weather conditions. You can even shadow
yourself in a chase plane that banks with your
own, dodge AI traffic or enjoy multiplayer
action over your network.
Graphics are very close in quality to its
competitor's and the performance is superb,
faithful to the developers' stated intention that
eye candy should not compromise performance.
Therefore FlightGear graphics aren't quite as
glitzy as the competition but the performance
gain more than makes up for it; flights are
smooth with no hesitation and there's even a
landable aircraft carrier off the California
coast.
There are a few minor weaknesses such as ground
handling and less than perfect audio feedback.
The simulator doesn't have collision detection so
you might land just fine on water without
pontoons!
All in all, FlightGear packs in a lot of extras
you'll not find in other simulators and since
development is ongoing there's usually something
new to enhance this one-of-a-kind experience.

Frenzic

Frenzic from Iconfactory
........ Well
it's addictive I can tell you.
I can only describe it as a incredibly addictive
and well made puzzle game.
Frenzic
is a fast paced puzzle-based game for Mac OS X
that will sharpen your reflexes and get your
neurons firing. It takes only minutes to learn
and months to master, but beware, once you start
playing you may never want to
stop!
A fast-paced, addictive game that makes Tetris look like child's play
Compete against your personal best or other players via the Internet
Complete power-ups for increased abilities
Climb through seven levels of Devotion from Newbie all the way to Frenzic Grandmaster!
OK, so here's how you play
In the middle of the puzzle is a circle surrounded by 6 other circles.
As colored pie pieces appear in the centre, place them in the outer circles to earn points. Pieces can only be placed into circles that have a corresponding open slot.
Once all six slots of a circle are filled, the completed pie is cleared from the board. If a piece is not placed before the timer expires, a life is lost.
Use the fewest colour's possible when forming pies for maximum points as each piece of the same colour is worth more than the one before it.
Pies completed with a single colour also earn an extra life. The speed of the timer gradually accelerates, increasing difficulty.
Play ends when all of your lives are lost.
Broken X-Box 360
On boxing day it broke, It got the 3 red lights of death.
I phoned Microsoft support who told me to contact Amazon to see if they would accept the return, they said if they didn't, Microsoft would replace it.
I phoned Amazon who said just to send it back and they would send a replacement out.
Amazon dispatched a replacement unit on the 28th december, first class......
On the 2nd January with no sign of the replacement I went to HMV and bought him a new 360 for the same price I paid at Amazon, I also got 2 games included free. (happy)
On the 8th January the replacement from Amazon eventually turned up, Almost 2 weeks later.
If i'd not had the money to go out and buy a replacement my son would have had to wait until it was time for him to go back to school before getting his Xmas present.
I can blame Microsoft for the dodgy X-box, I can blame Amazon for not sending it out via currier, But I think the majority of the blame must go to Royal Mail for taking so long to deliver a first class parcel.
I have learned a valuable lesson though....
When it comes to the kids BIG Xmas presents, DON'T order online.
I'll be buying from high street shops from now on, just in case.
